Shillong, Aug 12: Many UDP members, during the general council meeting of the party on Saturday, expressed unhappiness over the manner in which the executive committee of the KHADC led by the UDP was ousted by the NPP members.

According to party sources, many leaders questioned the silence of the party on the matter as they expected the UDP leadership to register protest.

Later, speaking to reporters after the issue was raised, the UDP president, Metbah Lyngdoh, who will be continuing as the president for three more years, said the matter is being discussed at the party level.

“The matter is with the MDCs though we are not leaving everything to MDCs.We don’t have the anti defection law as anybody can move here and there and we will wait for the amendment to the sixth schedule to prevent this”, Metbah said.
