Shillong, Sept 1: UDP leader Lahkmen Rymbui said that the legislators joining the BJP or other parties is a possibility and not a speculation.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday(Sept 1), Rymbui said, “The larger issue is about remaining aware of political happenings and taking an appropriate decision at the appropriate time while keeping one’s responsibilities in consideration”.
According to Rymbui, discussions and political alignment possibilities could exist without necessarily resulting in actual change.
“What is expected to happen does not always materialise and developments can sometimes take an unexpected turn”, he added.
It was reported that eight of the 12 UDP legislators were in talks with the BJP leadership.
“Political developments should be viewed with a conscious approach, with legislators required to assess the circumstances around them and take decisions at the appropriate time”, he added..
When asked about the unity within the party, Rymbui said the UDP stands as one organisation.
According to the senior leader, though there is unity in the party, he can’t comment on the individual decisions of the legislators.
