Shillong, May 12: The state government has said that the inauguration of the Umiam bypass bridge will be held on.May 13.

ORDER FOR TRAFFIC MOVEMENT
Whereas the construction of the Umiam Bridge bypass has been completed and will be inaugurated on the 13th of May, 2026, thereby allowing movement of all types of commercial vehicles including night super buses through the bridge for movement from Umiam towards Shillong w.e.f. 14th of May, 2026.
In view of the above, traffic movement of vehicles through the above mentioned bypass is permitted subject to the following conditions:-
1. Plying of commercial vehicles including night buses will be allowed only between 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM daily.
2. Articulated vehicles will not be allowed to ply from the above mentioned road.
3. Only rigid vehicles upto 3 axle with 2 tyres in front axle and 8 tyres in 2 tandem axles in the back will be permitted subject to the total gross weight of the vehicle upto 28.5 tonnes
4. All night super buses are to mandatorily park at the Inter-State Bus Terminal, Mawiong. Parking will not be allowed at SRGT, Polo, Shillong Municipal Board parking lot at Dhankheti, along Itshyrwat-New Shillong road, Shillong-Jowai road or anywhere in the city except ISBT, Mawiong.
