Shillong,June 30: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has opposed Uniform Civil Code as it goes against the very idea of India.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Conrad said, “India is a diverse nation and diversity is our strength”.

According to the chief minister, nobody knows what sort of draft bill on the matter will come out.
“But as a concept it goes against the matrilineal system which is our strength”, he said.
