Union home minister reviews security scene at Assam Rifles
Shillong, July 25: The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah visited the Assam Rifles Headquarters at Laitkor, on July 24 and 25 and discussed about the security scenario in the North East.
On Sunday, the minister was briefed about the operational and administrative matters of the Assam Rifles by Lt Gen P C Nair, the DG Assam Rifles.
“The prevailing security situation in the North East was also discussed and the home minister remarked that the Assam Rifles had earned the goodwill of the people of the North East in its over 180 years of history. This he added was truly remarkable for any force”, the Assam Rifles said in a statement.
Before the culmination of his visit, the home minister had a meal and interacted with the senior officers, junior commissioned officers and other ranks of Assam Rifles based at Laitkor.
He complimented them for the professionalism and dedication to service that had been displayed by them over the decades. He added that the nation is proud of the operational achievements and contribution of the force true to its name ‘Sentinels of the North East’.
