
Shillong,, Feb 22: Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita has assured security to the people residing in borders areas following unrest in Bangladesh.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Margherita said he would also take up with the home ministry on regrouping of militants, if any, along the India-Bangladesh border
“if there are such reports, I will take it up with the home ministry. We assure that our security, safety is always the priority of our nation,” Margherita said.
Passport office in Tura
On the demand fo setting up a passport office in Tura West Garo Hills, he said till date the department has not received any request from the state government.
“So if such a request comes from the state government, definitely the ministry will discuss this. The ministry is working very hard to get services to nooks and corners and even the remotest areas of our country. Definitely if such a proposal comes from the state government or concerned stakeholders, we will discuss and we are optimistic to have something like that” he said.

Earlier at the party office, the union minister spoke about the budget allocation for the development of the North East.
He praised the union budget 2025-26 as it brings development closer to the people of the North East.
