Repoll peaceful, JHADC registers 85.58 voter turnout

Shillong, Feb 21: The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) has registered 85.58 percent voter turnout on Saturday, a day after election materials of four polling stations of East Jaintia Hills were vandalised by an angry mob.
Repoll was conducted peacefully amid tight security in the four polling stations-Wapung Skur A and Wapung Skur B under Musniang-Rangad and Bataw A and Bataw B under Bataw-Lakadong constituency.
Wapung Skur A registered 85.12 percent and Wapung Skur B 83.33 percent.
The voter turnout at Bataw A and Bataw B under Bataw-Lakadong constituency is at 80.58 percent and 77.43 percent respectively.
Sumer constituency recorded the highest voter turnout at 91.46 percent while Jowai North has the lowest voter turnout at 75.28 percent.
Among the polling stations, Maskut under Moodymmai-Nongkhroh constituency recorded the highest voter turnout at 99.52percent and lowest turnout was at Khaddum polling station under Saipung-Nongkhlieh constituency with 51.34 percent.
