Union minister downplays PM not visiting Manipur
Shillong, Feb 18: Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Pratima Bhowmik has justified Prime Minister Narendra Modi not visiting trouble-torn Manipur.
After attending an event to empower differently abled youths on February 15 here, she said the union home minister Amit Shah and union minister of state for home Nityanand Rai have already visited Manipur.

“In fact, Nityanand Rai stayed there for one month”, she added.
Sexual violence not relevant
To a question on sexual violence against women in Manipur, the union minister added that it has no relevance compared to the sexual violence in West Bengal.
She was referring to Sandeshkhali sexual violence in West Bengal involving Trinamool Congress leaders.
