Union minister opens Regional Cancer Centre & five other facilities in NEIGRIHMS
Shillong, Oct 14: Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday inaugurated Regional Cancer Centre among other facilities in NEIGRIHMS.
Other facilities opened by the minister are medical college and hostels, nursing college and hostels, modular operation theaters, virtual autopsy facilities and new guest house.
Earlier, NEIGRIHMS director, Prof. Nalin Mehta said the under graduate medical college and hostels, 350 bed cancer centre, 8 state of the art modular operation theaters and 150 critical care blocks to deal with Covid like situation, will address the health deficiencies in the region.
The union minister said the facilities will help the residents of the state to take medical care within the state without going out.
He pointed out that the Prime Minister has taken keen initiatives to improve the health facilities in the nook and corner of the country.
“New facilities will help to attract and retain medical professionals in the North East and the government is committed to develop infrastructure at NEIGRIHMS so that the institute continues to remain a hub for medical treatment, research & training of healthcare professionals for NE”, he said.
