Naidu attends workshop on changing role of NEC

Shillong, Oct 4 : Vice president M Venkaiah Naidu said private investment needs to be promoted through encouraging entrepreneurship, venture funds, start-ups and skill development.

Speaking at the workshop on changing role of NEC, Naidu said on Monday that the 69th plenary meeting of the Council held in January this year had identified two key issues of resolving inter-state border disputes and attracting private investments.

“Private investment needs to be promoted for the development of North East”, he said.

Naidu said India’s progress cannot be complete if there was uneven progress in various regions. “If the Northeast region progresses, India progresses…If the region lags behind, India lags behind”, he said.

Later, the vice president attended a cultural programme at Raj Bhavan, followed by an interaction with achievers in various fields from the state.
