VPP asks its legislators to implement MLA scheme with transparency

Party election panel to screen applications for council polls

Shillong, Aug 31: The Voice of the People  Party (VPP) has asked its MLAs to ensure transparent implementation of the MLA scheme.

In a directive to the MLAs, the party general secretary, Ricky A.J.Syngkon said the State Executive Committee (SEC) in its meeting held had a discussion to make sure that the MLA scheme is implemented in a transparent manner and a detailed report of the same be made public on a regular basis.

The party wants the MLAs to ensure financial propriety with respect to TA/ DA and sitting fees as members of any Assembly Committee.

The party also asked its MLAs to make certain that any renovation of the rooms alloted in MLA hostel must be reasonable and justified.

Council polls 

The party also said the state election committee of the VPP will soon initiate the process of screening the applications of all the prospective candidates who had submitted their applications to the party for the forthcoming council election. The candidature of only those who submitted their applications will be considered for nomination as the party candidates, the party general secretary said.
