Shillong, March 13: Laitumkhrah-Malki VPP MDC Deity Majaw (38) and her husband Jepry Pohlong were injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling met with an accident on March 8 night at Quinine, Ri Bhoi on the NH 6 Guwahati- Shillong road.
Deity is the Executive Member of KHADC.
The matter came to light only on March 13 after the video of the vehicle and photos of beer cans inside were circulated on social media.
Police said the medical report mentions that the MDC was in an inebriated stage but nothing was mentioned in the report regarding two others.
According to police, the accident occurred on March 8, around 11 pm.
Police are ascertaining who was driving the vehicle as the initial reports had indicated that it was driven by Aldoly Mawthoh, a resident of Malki Pdeng Shnong and son of Balawanpynskem Suting
“We are investigating who was driving the vehicle as there is always a blame game after the accident”, a police source said.
The vehicle (ML 05S 1130 Grand i10) was registered in the name of Jepry, the husband of Deity.
According to the police, the Shillong bound vehicle coming from Guwahati fell down to the drain at Quinine resulting in injuries to the occupants Deity, daughter of former MDC Bindo M Lanong and Jepry, son of Lt. Endis Khonglah, both the residents of Malki Pdeng Shnong.
Injured shifted before arrival of police
The injured were shifted by an ambulance to Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh before the arrival of the police.
The police said both the occupants were referred to Apollo Hospital, Guwahati for further treatment. The damaged vehicle was towed to Nongpoh poice station.
