Smit, Jan 21: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has announced winnower (prah in Khasi) as the symbol of the party as it separates grain of good governance from the chaff of corruption.
The crowd cheered at Smit as the party symbol was unveiled here on Saturday afternoon by the VPP leaders.

To a question on the symbol, VPP president Ardent Basaiawmoit said the choice was on winnower since it symbolises clean politics to remove the chaff of corruption.
When asked whether he took inspiration from Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP), Ardent said his clean politics campaign started in 2010 whereas AAP started it in 2011.
“Hence, I can say that infact AAP took inspiration from us”, he added.
