Women’s Asian Cup: Korea to take on Philippines in semis
Pune, Feb 2 (UNI): Korea head coach Colin Bell is expecting a tough challenge from a vibrant Philippines side when they face off in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 semi-final on February 3.
Korea are no strangers to the last-four, having played at this stage on five previous occasions but Philippines will be making their debut. Bell wants the Southeast Asian to play with no fear at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex.
However, Korea will be equally driven as they seek a first-ever appearance in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup final with the pressure of qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 off their shoulders.
“The way I view football or coach is that I always want more and move forward,” said Bell. “The first objective was to get to the World Cup and this was achieved, but it doesn’t stop there. We want to overcome this hurdle against Philippines, who will do everything they can to stop us from reaching that goal,” Bell said.
