Shillong, Sept 15: Tripura Santiniketan Medical College has been recognised by the World Book of Records, London. The institution has been honoured for achieving the maximum statewide enrolment in the inaugural academic session of a medical college, with 150 MBBS students admitted in 2024.
The recognition was officially conferred on Sunday at the House of Commons, British Parliament.
“This achievement is not merely a number or a statistic. It is a symbol of hope, determination and vision for a healthier and brighter tomorrow,” a media statement from the institute said.
In its first academic session, Tripura Santiniketan Medical College drew 150 enrolments. For many students, especially from rural and semi-urban areas, this institution is a gateway to pursue their aspirations without having to leave their home state.
Speaking on the recognition, president of the college, Malay Pit, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the students, faculty and staff whose collective efforts made this milestone possible. He also dedicated the honour to the people of Tripura, acknowledging their unwavering support and faith.
