Shillong, July 27: Social activist Cherian Momin has moved national human rights commission through the Meghalaya human rights commission, and Achik States People’s Front wanted Chief Secretary to deal with the assault of caretaker by NPP MLA Subir Marak from Rangsakona at the MBOSE guest house in Laitumkhrah on July 16.
When asked, chief secretary DP Wahlang said the government has asked a fact finding team to ascertain the incident.
According to Momin, the incident, widely reported and documented, raises serious concerns about human rights violations and legal infractions that warrant immediate investigation and intervention by the National Human Rights Commission.
Assembly Speaker Thomas Sangma distanced himself from the controversy stating that the case involves two individuals.
