Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup for men and women conclude

Shillong, Mar 29: The Assam Rifles organised the 3rd edition of the Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup for women and men. Teams from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura and Assam participated in the tournament.
The women’s final was played between the teams of Assam Rifles and Tripura. The team from Assam Rifles emerged as the winners.
The team from 164 TA (Naga) emerged as winners in the men’s category after a keenly contested and close match. The event was graced by Lt. Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles.
Seven women’s football teams from Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Assam Rifles voluntarily participated in the tournament. The first phase of the tournament was conducted at Lokra, Assam.
The first phase of the men’s tournament was conducted in Dimapur. After an exciting competition with several nail-biting finishes, four teams — 165 TA, 164 TA, Manipur and Assam — came into semi-finals. The final match was played between the teams from 165 TA (Assam) and 164 TA (Naga) on Friday, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Laitkor Garrison of the Assam Rifles in Shillong.
The Sentinels Cup began on March 16. The best two teams competed for the coveted trophy and cash prize of Rs 3,50,000 for the winner.
