
Shillong, Sept 14: North East Postal Circle will hold the 36th All India Postal Football Tournament from December 15 to 20.
The event will showcase clashes between the football talents of the Department of Posts.
Briefing journalists about the event on Sunday, Chief Postmaster General Sanjiv Ranjan said that the tournament will be inaugurated on September 15 at 9.30 am at Shillong Sports Association (SSA) Ground, Polo, Shillong
Matches will be played at four venues – the Shillong Sports Association (SSA) Ground, Polo, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Ground, NEHU Campus, the Assam Rifles Ground, Happy Valley and the Mawshbuit Ground, Shillong, said Ranjan, who is also the President of the North East Postal Sports Board.
10 postal circles from across the country will compete for the championship title. The participating teams represent North East, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala Circles.
A Special Cover will be released to commemorate the 36th All India Postal Football Tournament 2025–26. This Special Cover marks the significance of the event and serves as a philatelic tribute to the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the postal fraternity across the nation.
This national-level event aims to foster the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and unity – reflecting the vibrant spirit of the postal fraternity. It also highlights the Department of Posts’ initiatives and commitment to promoting sports and encouraging youth participation nationwide.
The closing ceremony will be held on September 20.
