Speaking to media persons after the meeting, NCP President O.K. Sangma said that the party was examining the issue, as it has become a major topic of public interest in the state.

He said discussions are ongoing regarding the electoral rights of non-tribals and the demands raised by various groups to review the voters’ list.

Sangma criticised the government, claiming that the situation in the state is going from bad to worse.

He said that corruption remains one of the biggest challenges facing Meghalaya.

He added that political leadership must focus on clean governance and accountability.

“The people want development and transparency, not corruption,” he said.
