Shillong, Feb 23: The Budget 2026-27 is fifth consecutive budget that has been aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a special focus on five goals.
The largest budget allocations are directed towards SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and SDG 16 (peace, justice and strong institution).

According to the budget statement, Meghalaya’s SDG Index score increased from 60 in 2020-21 to 63 in 2023-24. The national ranking, however, dropped from 23 in 2018 to 25 in 2023.
