Shillong, Feb 24: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday ruled out party politics while availing the Chief Minister’s Special Rural Development Fund (CMSRDF)
Raising a cut motion in the Assembly on the manner of distribution of funds under the CMSRDF, Opposition Leader Mukul Sangma and Mawlai MLA Brightstarwell Marbaniang raised the process involved in releasing the scheme.
In reply, Conrad said the scheme is widely spread, and it is done with passion .” We don’t negotiate with people as far as the scheme is concerned”, he said.
He said any particular MLA is of the constituency and not of any political party.
Mukul wanted the ceiling of Rs 10 lakh to be changed.
According to the chief minister, there is a category under NGOs that can avail more funds beyond Rs 10 lakh.
Mukul said the CM’s secretariat should have checks and balances to avoid duplicity of schemes.
