One more unnatural death in EKH

Shillong, April 23: A person was found dead in a sitting position at 3rd Mile, Upper Shillong, on Thursday (April 23).

The body was found with a rope tied around the victim’s neck, while the other end of the rope was tied to a railing outside a shop on the second floor of the roadside building.

The right hand of the person was seen tightly holding on to another railing.

Speaking to reporters, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said the incident is a case of partial hanging.

The victim has been identified as Vinod Kumar Singh (21) from 3rd Mile.

He was missing from home on the night of April 22.

Regarding the case in Upper Shillong, Syiem said the deceased has been identified is from 3rd Mile, Riatsohkhlur. His body was discovered around 5 am today. Police suspected that it was a case of partial hanging.

“The way the position of the body is sitting on the ledge of the window and there was a rope on his neck, it all indicates that it is partially hanging. There was no injury on his body. It all indicates of suicide. Nevertheless, we will confirm that once the post mortem examination is done… but it is a case of partial hanging.”

Earlier, another incident was reported from Laban police station, where a man hanged himself.
