
Shillong, May 5: The High Court of Meghalaya on Tuesday (May 5) issued notice to Sonam Raghuwanshi after the government filed a petition challenging the bail granted to her by the lower court.
The petition against bail was moved by the government on May 4.
An official source said the notice on application to cancel the bail was issued by the court to Sonam.
The argument of the government is that Sonam was very much aware of the grounds of arrest, and the documents in this regard were submitted to the court.
After hearing the petition of State of Meghalaya Vs Sonam Raghuwanshi@Bitti@Bittu, the single judge Justice W Diengdoh said that the court heard A. Kumar Advocate General assisted by S Laloo , government advocate for the state who submitted that the application was filed primarily, on the state being aggrieved by the order dated 27.04.2026passed by the Court of the lSessions Judge, East Khasi Hills District,Shillong in Bail Application No. 93 (T) 2026 connected to Sessions Case No. 41(T) 2025, wherein vide such order, the respondent has been directed to be enlarged on bail with certain conditions.
The Advocate Genetal has sought that the bail order should be quashed and that the bail granted to the respondent should be cancelled.
On consideration of the submission made, the state petitioner was directed to take steps for issuance of notice upon the respondent.
The matter will be heard on May 12.
