
Shillong, May 6: The VPP which fought for the review of reservation police failed to attend the all-party meeting to discuss the state reservation policy.
In a letter addressed to the deputy secretary, personnel department on May 5, the party president Ardent Basaiawmoit said that the timing is not conducive to attend the meeting and added that the party is presently engaged in pressing issues concerning the state.

Subject: Regret inability to attend the All-Party Meeting dated 6th May 2026
Sir.
Apropos the subject cited above and with reference to your letter No. PER(AR)49/2023/91 dated 30th April 2026 regarding the All-Party Meeting on the Report of the Expert Committee on State Reservation Policy, I regret to convey that the timing is not conducive for the said meeting. At present, we are actively engaged with pressing issues concerning the State and its people which require urgent attention from the Government. In light of these circumstances, we find ourselves unable to participate in the proposed meeting.
