Shillong, June 15: The Hajong community does not believe the police theory of suicide of the couple belonging to the community.
They will stage a silent protest on June 16 evening demanding a high-level inquiry into the incident.
“We will stage a candle light vigil around 5 pm at Khyndailad on Tuesday ( June 16)”, said Nobaram Hajong, the chairman of Hajong Students Youth Voice.
The couple identified as Pronam Hajong (22) of Balat, South West Khasi Hills and Semanto Hajong ( 21) of Ranikor from.the same district , were found dead inside a roadside shed at Lumsohphoh on Sunday ( June 14).
Nobaram pointed out that the face of the youth was covered with a white towel raising suspicion about the suicide angle suggested by the police.
Moreover, both the victims were found on the floor adding to the mystery.
Though the police claimed that it can be the result of a ‘partical suicide’ , the Hajong community will petition the government for a high-level inquiry.
