Bail to Sonam a set back, but war is not lost: Police

Shillong, July 13: East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem has said bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, is a setback but added that the war is not lost.
The bail granted by the trial court was upheld by the High Court and Supreme Court due to a clerical mistake in arrest memo filed in Gazipur.
“On that date these people made a critical error when they made the arrest memo. Three documents were made, and instead of 103 they put 403. So, there is no 403 in BNSS and it is a clerical error for which she got bail,” Syiem said.
He said multiple teams had been sent to MP, UP and Gazipur at the time of arrest.
“Two officers have gone from here and multiple teams have gone from here to different places,” he said.
“Yes, she is abiding by the conditions of bail. She is here and she is appearing for all hearings which the court has called for,” he said.
“Nonetheless, the trial will go on and this is a setback to the investigation, but we have not lost the war. Let us look forward to the trial,” he said.
According to Syiem, the documents sought by the Supreme Court have been sent to the Advocate General.
