Shillong, Oct 18: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has launched ‘Latei on Wheels’, a locally owned motor caravan procured under the CM Elevate scheme, as part of the inauguration of The Pavillion opposite Ward’s Lake in Shillong recently.
Latei on Wheels is owned by Manbha Khonglah, Proprietor of Latei Ville Inn, Shillong, and offers travellers a self-contained way to tour the state.

The vehicle was procured under CM Elevate. The scheme supports the development of motorcaravan tourism experiences that let travellers explore Meghalaya’s landscapes flexibly. The chassis was sourced from the Bomver Force dealership in Shillong, and the fabrication and interior fit-out were done by Motorhome Adventures, Sonipat, Haryana.

Explaining further, Khonglah said, “Meghalaya’s most beautiful places are often far from conventional hotels. A motorcaravan lets visitors slow down, stay close to nature and discover the state at their own pace. I am grateful to the Chief Minister and the Government of Meghalaya for the support under CM Elevate, which has made this possible for a local entrepreneur.”
He added that Latei on Wheels should complement the state’s homestay and community tourism ecosystem. It will bring visitors to lesser-known destinations and create opportunities for local guides, villages and small businesses along the way.
Motorcaravan tourism is a growing segment in India, and the launch marks a step towards positioning Meghalaya as a destination for road-based, experiential travel.
