Shillong, Oct 14: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Assembly Speaker Thomas Sangma have condoled the death of four-time legislator Chamberline Marak from Bajengdoba.
“Very sad to learn about the passing of veteran politician and former Minister of our State, Shri Chamberline Marak. His contribution to the State will always be remembered. In his demise, we have lost a guide and a person whose wisdom guided leaders of all ages.He was a close aide of my father, and I have always been in touch with him to seek his guidance and advice.May his soul rest in peace”, Conrad said.
Marak from the Congress contested and won the Bajengdoba Assembly seat from 1983.and represented the constituency for four consecutive terms.
The Speaker said Marak was a distinguished personality with vast political knowledge, oratory skills and excellent command over English.
“Throughout his public life, he made valuable contributions to the development and welfare of the people of Meghalaya,” the Speaker added.
