ABVP to hold state conference in Khliehriat

Shillong, Oct 7: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Meghalaya will hold its state conference in Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills on October 16,17 & 18.
In the 9th conference, new office bearers will be elected, besides discussing issues concerning the state, which include the setting up of government colleges, problems arising out of drug abuse and illegal immigration.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, ABVP state secretary Tengku M Marak said that around 400 delegates are expected to participate.
On the first day, there will be a district-wise meeting and on the second day, there will be an election of the president and the secretary.
On the third day, eminent persons from various fields will address the gathering.
A cultural fest will also be held on the same day.
“Resolutions on allotment of more budget for higher education, measures to check drug addiction and illegal immigration will also be passed on the last day of the conference”, he added.
