In a letter to the Commissioner and Secretary in-charge Agriculture department, Kurkalang stressed the need of providing Neem Coated Urea to the farmers at subsidised rates.

He said ever since the state government had discontinued lifting and providing urea fertilisers to the farmers at subsidised rate and allowed sale in the open market, the farmers are facing hardships as they have to pay more.

He said the price of Urea ranges from Rs 800 upto Rs 1,200 per bag of 45-50 kg which affected the production of farm produces.

He said the initiative of the state government to provide organic manure to the farmers is not sufficient to meet the requirements for farming activities.
