Activists ready to go to jail if state takes up railway work: KSU chief

47th anniversary of students' body

Shillong, March 20: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has asserted that the members are ready to go to jail if the government forcefully takes up railway work in the Khasi and Jaintia region without anti-influx measures like the inner line permit (ILP).

KSU president Lambokstarwell Marngar announced this on Thursday while speaking at a meeting to mark the 47th anniversary of the union.

He also criticised the government for failing to implement the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA), 2016.

“People should not only question what the KSU has done to protect the Khasi community but they should also question the legislators what have they done on this when they have been elected to make laws for the protecting the indigenous community”, Marngar said.
