Ampareen asks govt to go slow, James lauds effort

Assam-Meghalaya CMs visit Langpih

Shillong, Nov 16:  East Shillong legislator Ampareen Lyngdoh has asked the chief ministers of Meghalaya and Assam not to take hasty decisions as far as the issue of boundary dispute is concerned, while cabinet minister James Sangma hailed the visit of both the chief ministers to Langpih on Tuesday.

Lyngdoh said the urgency in which the chief ministers of the Assam and Meghalaya are trying to quickly solve the so-called vexed interstate boundary issue is something which concerns everyone.

She said the Congress had time and again maintained that Meghalaya does not have anything to give nor does it have anything to take. There are many voices that are demanding for the inclusion of maps and representations of the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in this boundary talk, she said.

However, NPP leader and cabinet minister James Sangma said the chief ministers of both the states have gone to jointly inspect the area.  “It shows the kind of mutual respect and the kind of sincerity that both the states have in resolving this long pending issue”, he said .

Terming it as a positive step, the minister said, “I am happy this has happened and we expect more positive things to come in the days to come.”
