April 30 deadline for settlement of dues to MePDCL

Shillong, April 2: The Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) has announced extension of One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme 2025 for an additional month, providing BPL consumers with an extended opportunity to clear their outstanding electricity dues.
Originally set to conclude on March 31, the scheme will be available till April 30.
An official statement in this regard said that the decision comes in response to the overwhelming participation and positive impact of the scheme since its launch by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, in the presence of the Power Minister, on March 4.
MePDCL has designed the OTS Scheme 2025 to ease the financial burden of outstanding electricity dues for domestic and BPL consumers with connected 5 KW load and below and disconnected due to non-payment. Under the scheme, consumers can avail themselves of a 100% waiver on Delay Payment Surcharge (DPC), making it a highly attractive opportunity to clear pending dues. Consumers have the flexibility to chose either One-Time Full Payment or Interest-Free Instalment Plan.
12,262 consumers have enrolled in the scheme so far, resulting in the settlement of outstanding dues amounting to Rs15.97 crore. Of this, Rs 11.13 crore accounts for the principal amount, while Rs 4.84 crore has been waived off. The extension of the OTS scheme 2025 until April 30, 2025, presents a valuable opportunity for more consumers to clear their electricity dues and avoid additional penalties. MePDCL has encouraged all eligible consumers to take advantage of the extension and settle their outstanding bills under favorable terms. To participate in the scheme, consumers can visit the nearest MePDCL office or call the toll-free number 1912 for detailed guidelines and enrollment procedures.
