Assembly pays tribute to late leaders
Shiillong,Sept 10: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has paid tributes to several late political leaders.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Opposition leader Mukul Sangma and Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh joined in the obituary reference along with other MLAs on the opening day of the autumn session of the Assembly on Friday.
The House also remembered the contribution of late state leaders Mihsalan Suchiang, Obil Kyndait Dr PW Khongjee.
The chief minister said all the three state leaders were tall leaders as he expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the departed souls.
The former chief minister Mukul Sangma remembered Dr Khongjee as a very close friend and a colleague in the Assembly.
“It was too early for him to leave us at 62. We were together in the medical institution at Imphal, he was senior to our batch and was always available for consultation and we did take up many issues for the welfare of our students. He has been a guide, an advisor and more like an elder brother, he said.
