BJP to seek support of coalition partners to take on TMC
Shillong, Feb 5: The state BJP will meet it’s coalition partners in the government to discuss ways and means to take on AITC as it emerged as a threat in 2023 Assembly polls.
BJP central leader in-charge Meghalaya M Chuba Ao said on Saturday that Congress is no longer a threat unlike AITC.
He was in Shillong to attend a meeting convened by the central leader and union minister Kiren Rijiju
When asked whether the BJP will go for a pre-poll alliance for the next Assembly polls, Ao said the matter is yet to be discussed.
Ao admitted that the party has been getting feelers from different leaders in the state and added that it was too early to say anything on the matter.
When asked whether the party will field candidates in all the 60 seats, the BJP leader said,”The party will field candidates who would be able to garner more votes and candidates we can bank on to win”.
Commenting on the prospects of the Congress in the next polls, the BJP leader said, ‘The party (Congress) would be there but they won’t be able to win any seats”.
