Probe panel chief visits Cherish house

Power disruption forces case adjournment

Shillong,Feb 5: Retired chief justice T Vaiphei,the chairman of the judicial inquiry commission probing the death of former HNLC leader, Cherishstarfield Thangkhiew, visited his house at Mawlai Kynton Massar, on Saturday.

During the visit, Vaiphei (in picture) said the purpose was to understand the building design.

The chairman said the findings of his visit will be reflected in his order and the details cannot be divulged.

Though the examination of two police witnesses was scheduled in the afternoon, frequent power disruption has compelled the commission to adjourn the hearing to February 24 and 25.

The government has not provided generator at the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission building where the commission holds regular sittings.

The probe panel chief hoped that within another three months, he would be able to complete the probe and for this another extension is needed.
