Shillong, Oct 3: Police on Tuesday recovered the body of the missing girl from Marbisu.
Earlier on September 20, the girl identified as Phibankyntiew Sun (18) and her friend Wanboklang Kurbah (20) went missing.
The next day, the relatives of the girl filed an FIR with Mawngap police station.
Police said some fishermen noticed the body in a river at Marbisu on Monday evening and on Tuesday it was recovered and subsequently identified by the relatives.
The decomposed body was brought to the Shillong Civil Hospital on Tuesday night.
Police suspect it to be a suicide case as the relatives of the girl did not approve her relationship with the boy who is yet to be traced.
Police said the search is on to find out the boy.
According to the uncle of the girl, K. Sun, the family is not sure whether it is a suicide case or murder.
