Shillong, May 30:The Border Security Force, Meghalaya continuing strict vigil on Indo-Bangladesh border, simultaneously undertook various drives concerning environmental, social and humanitarian issues.
The BSF said that on Sunday, a mass plantation drive was carried out by Sooryakant Sharma, DIG, SHQ BSF Tura in association with Sukumar Pattnaik, Commandant 75 Bn BSF, Karuna Nidhi Tripathi, Commandant 55 Bn BSF and 300 BSF troops. During the event, around 1000 saplings of indigenous species were planted in and around 105 acres of BSF campus.

Motive of the drive is to save natural resources of water and to prevent soil erosion, the BSF said.
