Cabinet nod to composite bar license, QR code for bottles
Shillong, Sept 25: Cabinet on Wednesday approved composite bar license to hotels and QR code on bottles.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told reporters after the cabinet meeting that the addition of new rules under the Meghalaya Excise Rules will have the provision of a composite license for hotels.
Previously, hotels had to apply for separate licenses for F&B services (eg. hotel, restaurant and bar licenses) which is an inconvenience for such establishments. “Therefore, in view of the existing & upcoming 5 star hotels and to streamline the system of licenses, cabinet approved the amendment”, Conrad said.
Tracking system
The chief minister said QR code on liquor products is for tracking them.
“Facility of excise functionalities of all liquor bottles sold in Meghalaya with a QR code hologram for real-time tracking will enable real-time stock/production/sales update and also track revenue generated from the sales”, the chief minister said.
