Shillong,Jan 17: The state cabinet on Monday took up the proposal for increasing the upper age limit for government jobs to 37 years from the present 32.
Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui told reporters that though the agenda was taken up for relaxation of age for five years, it was deferred for another date since the issue of uniformed personnel will have to be discussed further.

Rymbui said the police, home guards and other related personnel will have to undergo training at a young age and hence the government will have to see how their late entry will affect their efficiency once a decision is made.
Earlier, UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh and KHNAM MLA Adelbert Nongrum had taken up the matter.
