Centre to empower persons with disabilities to come up in state
Shillong, May 27: Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik, virtually inaugurated the services of Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) CRC-Shillong, on Tuesday.
The function was held on hybrid mode at Soso Tham Auditorium, State Central Library. The minister also thanked the state government for providing 10 acres of land for establishing the CRC Shillong at Umsawli, New Shillong.
Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla distributed assistive devices under ADIP scheme to around 55 beneficiaries.
East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh stressed on the need of early identification and proper intervention of disabilities.
Anjali Bhawra, Secretary, DEPwD, MSJ&E, GOI addressed the gathering online.
Principal Secretary, Social Welfare, Sampath Kumar,.S.B. Marak,Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Nachiketa Rout, Director, NIEPMD, Chennai, Dr. Roshan Bijlee, Director, CRC- Kozhikode & Nodal Officer of CRC – Shillong also spoke.
