Charles to get Trinamool party prez post
Shillong,Nov 26: Former Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope is set to become Trinamool Congress state party president.
Party sources said that though a meeting of the legilslators on Friday elected Mukul Sangma as the parliamentary party leader, HM Shangpliang secretary and George Lyngdoh as opposition chief whip, the post of party president was not discussed.
The legislators will leave for Kolkata on Sunday and a meeting with the party president Mamata Banerjee is scheduled on Monday.
According to party sources, Mamata will give nod to the appointment of Charles as state party president.
Loyalists of Charles claimed that if he would have been made the president of MPCC instead of Vincent Pala, there should not have been any disunity in the party and this could have prevented exodus of MLAs.
