However, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem confirmed it as a group clash over some  domestic issues and nothing to do with drugs.

“My pregnant wife and mother were attacked by the drug suppliers, resulting in injuries”, an affected man had claimed earlier.

When contacted, an official with the Anti- Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) said that the team is helpless since the case should be taken up by the police.

The victims alleged that those who are encouraging the supply of drugs lodged a complaint with the police at the Cantonment Beat House.

They wanted an impartial investigation into the matter.

The incident comes after an awareness event held in Lum Survey recently.

The SP, however, said that the woman self-inflicted wound on her hand after she fought with her husband.

“It was a domestic issue between the husband and wife that spiralled into a group fight”, the SP said

The Cantonment police went there to ascertain the cause and found that sox persons were injured, the SP said.
