Shillong, Aug 20: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday admitted to Ministers, MLAs and others receiving demand notes from HNLC.
At the weekly news briefing, to a question, the chief minister said it is a fact several ministers and MLAs had received extortion notes.
Earlier on Friday, the Congress leader Mukul Sangma revealed that several ministers and MLAs had received demand notes and wanted the media persons to ask the chief minister regarding the matter.
The chief minister said the police are investigating the issues of IED blasts and the extortion notes served to various sections of people, including the ministers and MLAs. “After the IED blasts, we ensured the safety of the residents and arrests were made,”he said
“We received different messages and the extortion racket led to a large amount of evidence.. it is not proper for me to provide more information as I will be risking the investigation,”the chief minister added.
