CM calls KSU for talks on five demands

Shillong, Aug 24: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has called the KSU leadership for talks to discuss the 5- point demands of the union.

Speaking to reporters on Monday (Aug 24) said an official letter was sent to the KSU for talks and the response was awaited.

The five demands are cancellation of the Shree Cement’s public hearing on July   31 this year for the proposed limestone mining project at Lum Syrman, East Jaintia Hills, implementation of the MRSSA, 2016, implementation of the Meghalaya Identification, Registration (Safety & Security) of Migrant Workers Act, 2020, streamlining NEIGRIHMS recruitment, transparent recruitment system , including abolishing personal interviews for Grade B, C, and D posts. The KSU wanted strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and  reforms within the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) and District Selection Committees (DSC).
