The appeal of the chief minister from Mawphlang where attended an election campaign on Tuesday, came after the HNLC asked the party workers to immediately resign from the NPP within a month’s time. This was after a crude explosive device was recovered from the NPP office at Lachaumiere on Monday afternoon.

The HNLC had also threatened to shoot ministers as it alleged that the recent death of its former general secretary Cherishstarfield Thangkhiew was a complete political conspiracy by some ministers.

However, the chief minister asked the NPP leaders and supporters to be strong. “We are here to fight for our people; we are here to ensure to take our state forward. We should not be bowed down by these simple challenges that are thrown at us,” he said.

Cong a sinking  ship

Sangma said the opposition Congress is a “sinking ship” and added that the Congress party is disintegrating throughout the country

Congress MDC Lamphrang Blah joined the NPP to contest the Mawphlang seat.

“He (Blah) realised that today the Congress even at the national level only has a temporary president even after three years they were not able to elect a leader and if the leadership is not there who will make the party grow and that is why today Congress is disintegrating, there is no use being in a sinking ship,” the chief minister said..
