CM to take up construction of university in Khanduli with Assam
Shillong, June 4: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will take up with his Assam counterpart regarding the move of Assam to set up a university at Lum Siatmuid Khanduli, West Jaintia Hills.
When journalists pointed out about the matter on Friday, the chief minister was not aware of the development.
When further questions were raised, the chief minister said he would take up the matter with Assam.
To another question, the chief minister said the home department is examining the need to set up more police outposts especially in the border areas.
Earlier on Thursday, the Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation,Jaintia Hills had sought the intervention of the chief minister regarding the proposed construction of a university by the Assam government at Khanduli.
The NGO said on May 31, a group of people’s representatives from Assam with instruction from Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member , Tuliram Ronghang accompanied by KACC MACs RinaTerangpi,, Pawan Kumar and Headsing Rongphar VC HMB and others inspected the land at Lum Siatmuid Khanduli, West Jaintia Hills for the construction of the university by the Assam government without intimation to Meghalaya government and the district administration of West Jaintia Hills district.
