CM wants opposition to come to the table to discuss rly projects
No plan to reshuffle Cabinet immediately: Conrad

Shillong, June 25: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday urged the opposition to participate in the upcoming all-party committee meeting to discuss the proposed implementation of railway projects in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills region.
Speaking to the media, Sangma said the recent decision of the opposition political parties, including the VPP and the Congress, to stay away from the meeting has sent a wrong democratic message.
“We got some negative responses from some political parties… My point is that whether you agree or you don’t, at least we sit and put our thoughts and ideas on the table,” he added.
According to the chief minister, a collective approach is needed to address the challenges and concerns related to the proposed railway projects in the region.
To a separate question, Sangma said he would consider a cabinet reshuffle “when the situation and time arise”.
“There is nothing that I want to say about it right now. We will see when the situation and time arise. I don’t think right now it is the time to discuss (about a cabinet reshuffle),” he said.
The statement comes amid speculation about potential changes in the Cabinet as the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA-2) government would soon complete its two and a half years in office.
