College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai provides help to farmers
Shillong, June 10: A programme on community empowerment through technology product was organised by College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai under Central Agricultural University,Imphal.
The objective of the programme was to provide various key inputs to the farmers of the region for their empowerment during Covid-19.
Dr UK Behera, Dean, College of Agriculture, delivered the welcome address and highlighted about the importance of “community empowerment” through agricultural technology for the benefit of the farmers.
Dr. KB Sahkhar, Director, Directorate of Meghalaya Animal Husbandry and Veterinary attended the event on virtual mode as the chief guest.
Other participants from Nongstoin and Ri Bhoi joined virtually. Headmen and farmers of adopted villages of Meghalaya took part physically in the programme.
Tura MP Agatha Sangma highlighted the importance of the programme and added how Central Agricultural University is benefiting farmers of the region under the leadership of Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor of CAU, Imphal.
The college staff contributed one day salary for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for Covid-19 and provided assistance worth more than Rs 12 lakh to the farmers in terms of inputs such as cattle feeds, poultry feeds, medicines for cattle, mineral supplements, chaff cutter, milk can, poultry birds, poultry feeds, farm implements, fertilisers, fruit saplings, portable vermin beds, fodder seeds, vegetable seeds and others.
