Conrad chairs pre-budget consultation,stakeholders share suggestions

Shillong, Feb 12: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma chaired the pre-budget consultation meeting on Wednesday 2025-26.

The session provided an opportunity for the chief minister to brief stakeholders on the upcoming state budget and engage directly with participants both offline and online. The participants represented different sectors including education, agriculture, academia, economists, civil society and media.

 

In his keynote address, the chief minister  gave a presentation and stated that the sole aim of the pre-budget consultation was to seek suggestions from all stakeholders to ensure that the budget reflects the aspirations of the people of Meghalaya.

During the three-hour long session, Conrad  responded to the suggestions and queries by participants from different sectors, including online viewers. He also suggested that the citizens can submit their specific queries through the CM Connect helpline. Additionally, the Chief Minister outlined his vision for the state’s economy.

He said the government is committed to ensure holistic economic development in the state and generate employment for the citizens. He added that Hello Meghalaya, a government-owned OTT platform, has created opportunities for content creators and filmmakers, ensuring they are fairly compensated for their work.

The chief minister stated that owing to Meghalaya’s continued investment in sports infrastructure over the years, it has been selected to host the National Games in 2027.

In his concluding remarks, the chief minister  underscored the need for holistic development across all sectors, reaffirming the government’s commitment to balanced and inclusive growth.
